When seventeen-year-old Jo Gratz was forced to finish the school year from home in light of the coronavirus pandemic, she decided to put that time to use volunteering to support the community. After her mother saw a call for face masks for the community through United Way, Gratz launched a project to create thousands of protective face coverings and donate them before leaving for college in the fall.
