Community is more than just a word; it's the heartbeat of our mission, the soul of our endeavors. It's the fellowship we feel when we come together, united in purpose and passion. In Asheville and Buncombe County, community is not a concept but a living, breathing entity.
At the 2024 United for Youth Spring Convening, this community spirit was palpable. We witnessed the unveiling of the United for Youth Data Dashboard, empowering our partners to make informed decisions and allocate resources wisely through shared community data.
Another highlight of the convening was the panel discussion. Led by Zekiah Rodgers, the discussion ignited conversations on vital topics such as anti-racism, violence prevention, and collaboration, with voices of Ashley Allen, Ty Johnson, Arleen Bailey, William Baxter, and CiCi Weston sharing their wisdom and amplifying the call for break down of silos.
However, it was Dr. Tiece Ruffin's keynote, "Community of Practice," that truly stirred hearts. Her impassioned words reminded us of the power we hold when we stand together, supporting each other as a true community.
Fuelled by the flavors of Blessed Soul Food and Annie B's Ice Cream, the 2024 United for Youth Spring Convening wasn't just about gatherings; it was about creating space for essential dialogues, strengthening our bonds, and expanding the reach of the U4Y network. Together, we are stronger, more resilient, and ready to tackle any challenge that comes our way.
