UNETE

WE ARE

UNETE is a grassroots non-profit organization with the mission to collaborate and co-create inclusive and equitable spaces that foster health, strengthen self advocacy and promote wellness for the whole-person and the whole-community. We advance health and wellbeing throughout the lifecourse by promoting and facilitating access to resources for historically and presently marginalized communities.

WHY UNITED FOR YOUTH

Based on a human rights framework, UNETE’s vision is to equitably facilitate immediate and lasting transformation in lives across Western North Carolina (WNC). We are excited to partner with United 4 Youth Network because we know that a community where ALL youth learn, grow, and thrive requires deep collaboration, a racial-equity lens, participation and amplification of community and youth voices, a commitment to continuous evaluation and improvement, and a strong voice for advocacy and systemic change. UNETE is deeply invested in United for Youth’s vision to remove barriers to student success so that ALL Asheville City and Buncombe County students graduate from high school ready and fully prepared to pursue their goals and dreams.

OUR COMMITMENT

As a member of the United for Youth Network, we commit to:

  • Sustain our current Community Health Worker program that supports individual, family, and community wellness by assisting people to access resources in healthcare, food, housing, education, and employment through a racial equity lens.
  • Sustain our youth programs- M.A.N.O.S. and F.A.R.O.S.- and seek opportunities to expand these programs to other school districts
  • Sustain De Mujer a Mujer NC- a community led initiative for and by Latinix women which offers support, educational opportunities, and advocacy.
  • Dedicate staff time to participate in United for Youth meetings and events.
  • Train UNETE’s MANOS and FAROS staff in restorative practices.
  • Promote United for Youth & partner organizations’ opportunities and events on our communication channels.
  • Deepen our practice of integrating youth & parent voices for leadership and evaluation of youth programming.
  • Deepen and grow our community listening practices to continue to identify gaps in services, information, and resources that are identified by community members and adapt our programming accordingly.
  • Refine our results-based and accountability data framework for MANOS, FAROS, and our CHW community support programs. Share the resulting data with the United for Youth network.
  • Cultivate, participate in, and share professional development workshops and learning opportunities with network partners.
