Last night, Women United gathered for a Spring Social at Lexington Avenue Glassworks to honor founding member Taylor Foss with the Women United Leadership Award (WULA).
It was Taylor's optimism, drive, and persuasive spirit that led to the formation of this group, resulting in female voices at the head of philanthropic tables here in Asheville. The evening was surrounded by a magnetic and light-hearted energy with community-minded women enjoying the fellowship of one another.
"It is often stated that women excel in multitasking - - this group takes it to the next level," said Elizabeth Allen, Leadership Giving Manager of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. "It is our nature to protect fervently and fight fiercely for the people and causes we care about. Women United lives that statement. We ignite change."
Women United began in Asheville in 2013 and since has grown to 222 members. Together, these women have raised more than $360,000 for our Community Investment Fund.
Thank you to Beverly Hanks for sponsoring Women United, to Whole Foods for donating the delicious spread of food, and to Lexington Glassworks in providing a gorgeous space for our gathering.
