Gathered in the stunning Restoration Hotel in downtown Asheville, the Community Impact Awards sponsored by Capstone Health Alliance was a night of connection and celebration, where the elegance of the venue mirrored the spirit of the attendees. Amidst the mingling and laughter of the cocktail reception and dinner, old friends connected and new bonds formed. Live music infused the atmosphere with charm, setting the tone for a lovely evening.
The 2024 Community Impact Awards Dinner is an annual event where United Way brings partners and supporters together to recognize those who give their time, talent, and treasure to further our work and provide an opportunity to dig a little deeper into an aspect of our work or connect with our community partners. A full list of the six awardees can be found here.
A highlight of the night came when Asheville High School student and emerging leader, Julia Darity, received a standing ovation for her unwavering commitment to our Buncombe County community. Another touching moment was witnessing Volunteer of the Year awardee Hekmat Bessio, accompanied by her son, who supported her win and actively contributed to capturing the event's magic through photography.
Adding a touch of creativity, UWABC staff used a ring toss toy to visually illustrate the collaboration between United Way and United for Youth in pursuit of The Bold Community Goal. The event was made possible through the generosity of sponsors and the dedication of outstanding community members, whose love for Buncombe County shines through their everyday actions. This evening served as a poignant reminder of the power of unity and collective action in building a brighter future for all.
