Purpose

Community Investment Grants are designed to provide equitable access to apply for funding for community-based organizations and individuals focused on supporting youth opportunity and success. The grant program is guided by a Community Investment Committee, composed of community members with expertise and lived experience with the impact of poverty and injustice.

As time goes on, the content on this page will change to include things like:

  • Community Investment Committee recruitment and selection information (August/September 2024)
  • Grant launch and application process links (late 2024/early 2025)
  • Grantee selection announcements (spring 2025)

Opportunity: Join the Committee

Apply today to be on the team that determines where to invest $100,000.

Over the past year, we worked with people across the community to co-create a new community investment pilot process led by community members. This process has fundamentally shifted the decision-making power of investments in community individuals, organizations, and initiatives from UWABC to a Community Investment Committee (CIC).

This year, a new group of community members will be selected for the CIC and will distribute $100,000 (two, $50K grants) to community organizations/members who demonstrate:

Alignment with the Bold Community Goal

  • By 2035, all Asheville City and Buncombe County students will graduate fully prepared to pursue their goals and dreams

Alignment to Community-Generated Themes

  • Building connections with the community and role models in the school

And These Other Elements

  • Fun for everyone
  • Reliability – building something the community can count on
  • Community-built – community members are the experts
