Every 10 years, the US government conducts a count of the people in our country. This count is CRUCIAL to many aspects of our community. The count is used in the allocation of billions of dollars in federal funding for so many things we take for granted: schools, hospitals, fire departments, and roads among other things.
The results of the census also determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.
