Their doors have only been open for a little over a year, but that hasn’t stopped them from taking their time to get involved with United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. In fact, Publix has been a friend to United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County for over a year! If you remember, last year, we even sang them a song on that very topic.
Today, we wanted to do something special for Publix because we are overwhelmed by the support they have shown our local community. Nearly 85 percent of Publix employees donated to United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County this year, with donations nearing $62,000. We showed up today with breakfast from Taco Billy and a big card to show our thanks.
"It’s very apparent that the associates at Publix understand that when they support United Way, something wonderful happens in the community," said Kevin Montgomery, Campaign Director for United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. "Today is a very proud moment for United Way staff to simply get the opportunity to say thank you for believing in our work. It shows that together, we make a difference."
