Both a current and a former United Way team member will serve as presenting instructors for the fall edition of WNC NonProfit Pathway's The Nonprofit Fundamentals Certificate Program. This professional development series is designed for both newcomers and seasoned leaders.
- Aisha Shepherd, VP of Community Engagement at United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County will co-lead a session on community engagement and collaboration strategies.
- Bruce Waller will present a session on Social Media for Nonprofits. Bruce is a former team member who served as a Community School Coordinator at Asheville Middle School. He also is a current volunteer with United For Youth a multi-generational, cross-sector cradle-to-career partnership for which United Way serves as a backbone of support.
Also, we would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge another presenter on the lineup - Danae Aicher was very helpful to our team as we worked to create opportunities for both our staff and board to participate in REI training. Danae is running a session entitled Exploring Equity 101.

About WNC Nonprofit Pathways and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County
In 2006, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County along with The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina and Cherokee Preservation Foundation came together out of concern about the increasing demands on nonprofits. We recognized that nonprofits must operate from a place of organizational strength in order to carry out their missions effectively. From these discussions, WNC Nonprofit Pathways was born and each of these founding organizations provides annual funding to support Pathways’ services, making high-quality, capacity-building support available at low or no cost to nonprofits across the mountain region.
