United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County hit a home run during April, National Volunteer Appreciation Month, with their unforgettable Volunteer Appreciation Event at McCormick Field. Bringing together the most dedicated users of Hands On Asheville/Buncombe and the incredible organizations they support, the event was a grand slam of community spirit.
Underneath the lights and excitement of the ballpark, volunteers and organizations came together in a unified section, sharing laughter and camaraderie while cheering on the home team. Sponsored by Healthy Blue, the event was filled with memorable moments, including the distribution of swag adorned with the UWABC logo, courtesy of the generous sponsor.
Adding to the festivities was the presence of Healthy Blue's super awesome mascot, who quickly became a hit with both children and adults alike. Amidst the cheers and high-fives, individual volunteers, board members, and organizational representatives connected on a deeper level, strengthening the bonds of community service and collaboration.
A particularly shining moment was the participation of the Erwin High School ROTC, whose dedication to volunteerism extends beyond the ballpark, frequently serving at Erwin Middle Community Night. Their presence served as a shining example of the power of youth engagement and community involvement.
As the event drew to a close, heartfelt gratitude was extended to Healthy Blue for their invaluable support in making the event possible. But most importantly, the spotlight shone brightly on the volunteers and Hands On Asheville/Buncombe users whose dedication and willingness to serve make a profound impact on the community every day. Their commitment and passion exemplify the true spirit of volunteerism, enriching lives and strengthening communities one act of kindness at a time.
