Seven lip-sync teams took to the stage on Friday night and engaged in a fierce competion to take home the highly sought after Golden Hairbrush Trophy. The competition marks the 2018 kickoff of United Way's Campaign and provides an opportunity to raise the awareness, dollars and volunteers needed in the fight to reduce the impact of poverty on students, their families and communities.
While each team brought their own unique qualities, skills and all around talent, there can be only one! And when the smoke cleared, YWCA's Persimmon Nation had once again been awarded 1st place and took home the Golden Hairbrush Trophy for the second year in a row. Congratulations to all of our competitors and thank you for providing such fantastic entertainment! In addition, we'd like to thank everyone who contributed to United Way of North Carolina's Disaster Relief Fund. Together we raised $3,530.
We are so glad you could all join us to kickoff the 2018 Campaign season. And the key word here is kickoff — this event was the first of many that will happen over the next few months as our community comes together to support the great work being done around the issues of education, income and health. Do your part by joining family, friends and neighbors as they work to build a strong community for everyone!
